However, its creator decided to create another emulator, based on the same principles, to share it with all users who want to play this console. AdriPSX, the simplest and smallest optionĪdriPSX was created as an emulator for commercial use, not exclusive, for some private companies. Of course, its development has been without updates for more than a decade, so it could be considered somewhat obsolete considering that ePSXe, and RetroArch, are much more up to date. We can download this emulator from this link. Its main features are the same as those of PCSX-df, that is, an emulator based on the original PCSX project, with a renewed and improved interface, compatible with PSemu plugins, and optimized to run on 64-bit systems without problems. In addition, the developer took the opportunity to fix a series of errors, and apply various optimizations, that the developers of the original project refused to do. PCSX-Reloaded, the most customizable PlayStation 1 emulatorĪlso known as pcsxr, this is one of the many PSX emulators that was born from the PCSX-df project, using the original base code of this PlayStation simulator and porting it to both Linux and macOS. In order to work we need to have the BIOS, but, for legal reasons, these are not distributed with it. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux, and we can download it from here. But, if we want, and we have time, we can configure many parameters to adjust the operation of the program to the one we want. The configuration of these plugins is adapted by default to offer the best performance and the best compatibility for most games. By default it has a series of emulators to be able to choose the one we want for the graphics, sounds and even for the CD-ROM. This is one of the emulators that works best and is most compatible with all the games that were released for this game console.ĮPSXe is a modular emulator. It seems that PSXjin is an offshoot of PCSXR, so if I run into an issue with that at least I'm on the right track to remedying it.Although we can find several programs that will allow us to replay PlayStation 1 games, the best known, and used in Windows, is ePSXe. DSound Audio SPU Version 1.9 with the following settings:Īs for my graphics settings, they are as follows: But at least I was able to beat Zophar despite the slowdown! I even noticed this happening when certain sounds played during the battle(s) with Zophar. For example, when I bring up the field menu and use an item on my characters, the sound effect it makes causes the game to slow down to a crawl. However, I changed some settings and the game only slows down when certain sounds are played. I should give psxjin a try then.Īs for PCSXR, I searched the interwebs and found that other people are experiencing slowdown with this emu. Also, sound is always fucked up no matter what. I usually use the "Nice" settings on Pete's OpenGL2 PSX GPU Version 2.9, but I changed one thing to hopefully to make it run better: I changed the Off-Screen drawing option from "Extended" to "Standard". Also, voice samples sound garbled with static when I change the sound plugin. I noticed the sound skipping so I changed the sound plugin from the default one to P.E.Op.S. I also know about pSX v1.13 Cheat Edition, but that works like a regular CD GameShark you can't enable and disable codes on the fly.Īnyway, I'm trying to play Lunar 2, which is a 2D game and shouldn't be graphics intensive. Yeah, I know ePSXe has a built in "cheat" feature, but it only uses pre-loaded codes, and you cannot add codes yourself. Awhile back someone recommended this emulator to me because the PEC plugin for ePSXe gets detected as a virus by some antivirus programs.
